Q. Do your carriage doors swing out to open?

A. Yes! Sectional roll-up doors that disappear when you drive into view come from OTHER companies, not ours.

Q. Do you build entry doors to match?

A. Yes. We build entry doors using the same beautiful wood and hand-made techniques that make our authentic carriage doors distinctive.

Q. Do you have standard sizes?

A. We can build to fit your garage door opening sizes, up to 10' wide or 10' high. Each door is custom-built for a specific customer. We do not stock an inventory of standard doors.

Q. Can you build Carriage doors for a double-wide opening?

A. Carriage doors are for single-car openings. If you are replacing a double-wide door, you will most likely need two sets of swing-out doors with a post in the middle. Contact us for a proposal.

Q. Do you give a discount for multiple door sets?

A. Yes!

Q. Do your doors come in paint grade and stain grade?

A. We choose fine materials for the strength and durability required in a functional swinging door. We wouldn't want you to have an inferior door just because it's going to be painted. When we know that your door will be stained, we select boards whose color tone and grain will be pleasing when highlighted by their finish.

Q. Do the doors come pre-finished?

A. The doors come raw, sanded, and ready for stain or primer. We do not paint or stain the doors at our shop.

Q. Are the doors pre-hung, pre-drilled or mortised for hardware and hinges?

A. Carriage doors do not come pre-hung. Because of their size, it is more convenient, inexpensive, and safe to ship them as individual doors. There are many options of hardware choices, depending upon your preference and the function of the doors. Since your installer will likely do some planing in the installation process, we do not pre-drill the doors.

Q. How hard are they to install?

A. Your contractor or a licensed carpenter can handle the job. Many of our handy customers have installed the doors themselves. We provide complete instructions, and are available by telephone to guide you through the process.

Q. How weather tight are the doors?

A. Carriage doors are excellent for converting a garage to an insulated space because they close tightly against a doorstop which can be weather stripped. Wind just blows the doors more tightly closed. Evergreen carriage doors come with an astragal to cover the gap where the doors come together, and a sweep for the gap at the bottom.

Q. How does your opener mechanism work?

A. It mounts on the ceiling like a regular garage door opener, and pushes the doors open and closed by means of push-rods.

Q. Do you sell your opener separately?

A. The carriage door opener system is designed to work with Evergreen carriage doors, and is for the convenience of our customers; we do not sell it separately.
